6 MONTHS OLD
April 5, 2012

Stats (as of 4/9/12)
Weight-18lbs 6oz …. 69%
Height- 64.4? you shrunk from last month SO I think they messed this up!  ….69%
Head- 44 …56%
More shots
Size 4 diapers but we are waiting for our cloth diapers to arrive and will be starting those J
12 month clothes
You are becoming such a little boy Growing way to fast and doing all sorts of things.  Not to mention you are EVERYWHERE! You are not crawling yet and do not even get up to all fours and rock back and forth.  Instead you just roll roll roll roll.  You can get from one place to the other pretty darn fast.  Your legs are so strong if we stand you up against the couch or the ottoman you can stand there for a long time! Just these last couple days right before turning 6 months you have got really good at sitting up.  You still fall over while playing with toys but you are getting the hang of it pretty fast!  You are sleeping in your crib 100% of the time minus when Mommy gets up and feeds you laying in the bed with you and we fall asleep for a good hr or more snuggling J Mommy is really good at sleep feeding you hahah More like you are good at holding your bottle until it is gone and then just drop it! You are becoming quite the little blankey baby when you sleep as you like to be covered up with one and you hug another light weight one up by your face.  Also you sleep on your face or even some time your belly where as you use to always be on your back with your arms out or above your head.  You are eating 5-6 oz at a time.  You eat solids at about 5pm and then bath and last bottle at 6:30 asleep by 7.  You wake to eat at night at about 11 and 2 and then up to eat and for the day at about 6-7:30.  You are still getting only breast milk but this month we will be beginning to introduce formula.  You are loving solids and we are experimenting with all sorts of different foods.  Fruit: apples, pears, banana, nectarine, watermelon and cantaloupe (pieces you suck on it). You love the foods that you get to feed/suck on yourself.  Including Mum Mums which are a pretty big hit! Veggies: carrots, sweet potato, squash, peas, green beans, avocado.  The teething net is a huge hit too putting in frozen fruit and you will get so mad when no more juice comes out! I think apples are your favorite so far.
Things you love: You love being outside we go on walks daily (or if we need to put you to sleep) or sit on a blanket with toys you are always just so content being outside.  Cant wait to find a park with baby swings OR be home in Iowa with trees that we could have a swing hang from.  I think you will love it!  You also love the pool the water is still too cold so we either just dip our toes in or we sit over at the tables just watching the fountains.  You love to bounce and play in your exersaucer aka the poop machine.  We take it out on the “deck” a lot.  YOU LOVE LOVE LOVE baths.  It’s the one time a day we can almost ALWAYS count on you crying (which you really do not do much) is when we pull you out.  You love playing peek a boo, especially with blankets being put over your face/body! You kick and flail and get so excited.  You love when your daddy comes home from work he gets that same reaction! You are drawn to strings (mommys ties on her slippers or on our hoodies) and cords (which we need to baby proof the house better).  You love feet to! Your feet our feet anyones foot/toe that you can get in your mouth hahahah.

You have lost your funny hair as it is starting to grow!  You do not have missing line in the back anymore but the stuff on top is very long and stringy since you never lost any of it.  It is also turning very blonde with a hint of brown still

ClOtH wOrLd

We are entering the cloth world!!!!! and very excited about it :)
All the supplies are ordered and now it is just the wait game
should all be here and ready to start in a month (the shipping on this stuff is ridiculous)

We have two that we bought on a local swap group that have never been used but since we dont have soap or anything yet we still have to wait.  Of course I had to try it on his cute little bum cheekers and of course he looked so stinkin cute!!!!

A fun fact I read browsing the internet when I was in limbo trying to decide weather or not to take the plunge....... ssoo

"Cloth diapers save us a LOT of money!
On average, parents will spend between $3,000 and $4,000 per child for disposable diapers. We spent just over $400 for 24 cloth diapers. These diapers get washed twice a week. It costs approximately $1.25 to wash each load of cloth diapers (this includes detergent, water, and energy.) So, we will end up spending between $260 and $325 on washing the diapers for a grand total of $725 (at the most) to get our child through diapers. I don’t know about you, but if I have a chance to save over $2,000 I’m going to jump on that opportunity!"

SO with that being said we are giving it a whirl and seeing what happens.  I am very excited about it and think that it could really work for our family.
Amazed at how much more common it is becoming too, however, I still know we will get the looks and the confused thoughts of why on earth anyone would want to do this! But I really think that these people have a lack of knowledge of how different the cloth world is now and all the improvement.  Talk about "high tech"!!! :)
Look forward to sharing more as our adventure really begins

Easter 2013

We had a wonderful little family Easter just the three of us! and the last Easter in El Paso
We went to early service at Ciela Vista church
which was a wonderful and very moving service by Pastor Larry
Such an overwhelming feeling to think about all the pain and suffering our Father went through because of his undying love for us
We invited the Reece family to go with us and were so glad that they excepted the offer

After Church was over we headed to the Corner Bakery (one of my favorite places in El Paso). We picked up some muffins and coffee and headed to a local park! We enjoyed a nice stroll while little one snoozed away.  Afterwards we went onto base so that Urijah could see the Easter Bunny which was a HUGE hit .. you can see by the following pictures :) His little well I should say BIG smile is the best he just melts my heart.  Hard to believe that every day I fall more in love with him when you dont think you could love someone anymore then you already do and then BOOM more love grows.

One Happy Boy! and One Creepy Looking Bunny!

Pool Time

It has been so warm out, talking high 80's, spending a lot of time outside on walks and just hanging out.  You my child are definitely an outdoor baby and fit right into this family of ours.
(Iowa is still getting snow and YES it is Spring)
Anyways I am very anxious to go to the pool with you.  As much as you love the bathtub I know that you are going to LOVE the pool and we are going to spend a lot of our next few months there.  Daddy got home early, you had a great nap, and it was 80+ degrees out so I figured that was a perfect combination to go to the pool.  WRONG!! we got all suited up and headed over.... the water was ICE COLD!!! BBBBRRRRR I didn't even try to put your toes in because it was that freezing! But you looked pretty darn cute in your lil shark/fish trunks and shades.  You loved looking at the water and the fountains that were going! So I guess this was just an introduction to you of a new place that we will be spending a lot of time at splashing, learning, playing, and getting our tan on!  The Easter Bunny told me he/she is bringing you a cool little floaty with a canopy and all!

5 months

We are creeping up on 6 months and I have yet to post 5 months so here it is ....

5 MONTHS OLD
March 5, 2012

Stats
            Weight: 17.8 lbs 78%
            Height:  26.69inch 83%
            Head: 17.13 63%
Size 3 diapers  ……..size 6-9 clothes
Everything looks good and you are right on schedule and ahead in some places as well.  Dr Skurry told us we had better start baby proofing because you are going to be on the move before we know it.  That you act more like a 6 month old already.  You roll and go places now and you try your hardest to sit up.  You can tell by the look in your eyes sometimes you just want to go! Crawling is screaming your name but you have just yet to get all the steps put together.  I am excited and not ready for this next step. You already have mommy on her toes and before long we will be all over this apartment!
Last month in Iowa was great but hard on all three of us to be away from Daddy.  You just change to fast little man and time away from Daddy “you ate yourself” aka doubled in size.  You where spoiled or maybe I should just say loved A LOT by everyone in Iowa no one wanted us to leave.   You did not like the pack n play so you slept in bed with Mommy for the month and now we have some bad habits/ sleep training to do to 1. Get you back in your crib and 2.  Not eating as much through the night.  We have had a big regression and I am sure a big part was all the change in life you have had this month.
We started cereal (oatmeal) at night and you where a pro at eating.  Then I decided to be nice and add a little flavor and  try banana oatmeal but you thought that was horrific. You where gagging on it! And since you have decided you are not really a fan.  After our appointment the Dr told us we need to be doing rice in the a.m. because it has nutrients that oatmeal does not.  So we have started that and veggies are right around the corner in the next week or so.  HOPING that you LOVE them unlike rice and oatmeal that you have decided is just not for you! Hahah
You love love love the exersaucer you sometimes are a wild man in there.  You fit in Aunt Baileys a lot better though when we got back here you can barely touch the floor in ours.  I think your two cousins had hers broke in good!  You eye/hand coordination has taken off you are so fixated on things and everything goes in your mouth still.  You may be teething (your fangs??? Is what appear to be swollen) and you had your first ear infection while we where home in Iowa.
I can only imagine how much more you are going to be able to do in this next month always has us excited.  Growing and learning J

4 months

Well since Daddy left for Louisiana for JRTC we came back to Iowa and had to push your 4 month checkup to when we get back in a month since they will not do your shots any earlier then EXACTLY 4 months.  As much as I am happy to not have to put your little self through shots right now the procrastination knowing that they have to happen eventually doesn’t really make it any better.  But I do not have any stats except that you are a growing boy.  We think you weigh about 15 lbs. and are definitely still a long baby but not sure how long these days.  We will have to wait until next month to see.  You are fitting a lot of your nephews hand me down 6 and even a lot of their 9 month clothes.  We have also moved you up to size 3 diapers.  2 where beginning to get a little snug on that big belly of yours. And those big feet just keep growing you can wear size 2 and a lot of 3s now too! You are finding them and playing with them too!
You have literally taken off this month and I am not even sure where to begin.  I know understand why 3 months is a milestone because since then you have learned all sorts of things. You are no longer an “infant” and are starting to do big boy stuff and you like it.  We got back from Christmas in Iowa and you started to grab at all your toys which was so cool to see.  You would touch things and grab them, however, Mommy could do without the hair pulling that you decided you like to do.  (Mommy cut her hair and you still get a hold of it.)  You are learning so fast smart little man.  You showed interest in rolling over on January 5.  But you would just get to your side and then hang out.  Daddy kept warning you that you had better figure it out before he left so he wouldn’t miss anything and sure enough you did.  January 22, 2013 you rolled belly to back.  (Which is ironic that it was the same day one year earlier that we got a positive on a pregnancy test that we were expecting you!)  You had figured out within days how to do belly to back after that BUT you don’t always remember that you know how to do it and will get “stuck”.  You push yourself up so good now too and look around like Mr big stuff.  Also love your entertainment exersaucer even more then before now that you can actually play and not just “play” with your toys!!! You will get excited and bounce sometimes and you LOVE the mirror on it and any mirror.  Like to look at yourself (I think you get that from Daddy)
You are constantly chewing on your hands and your fingers more and more.  I am not sure if you are teething but you naw on your thumb all the time and are beginning to learn to suck on it so mommy may have to try giving you the pacifier again and see if you like it now.  I can take your pacifier away later on but your thumb I can’t!
You are one ticklish little man and we can really get you laughing now!
You are still a fake cougher
You are losing hair and you have the funniest line of missing hair on the back of your head.  It looks like you wear a ball cap all the time and it has warn all the hair away hahaha
Becoming an expert flier! You might just fly more in the first year of life then your whole life!
You have the strongest legs and love to be in a standing position on our laps and you try your hardest to sit up but your back is not quite strong enough and then you get so hunched over that you make your tummy hurt.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that you hold my finger while you eat it is just the best feeling and melts my heart! It really is the little things OH and that BIG smile that’s not so little and it melts my heart too.

HUGE improvement with your tear ducts.  Really only have problems with your left one now.

Since we have been home you have become a little snuggler in Mommies bed! you do not like the pack n play and this is about the only way you will sleep!
I think you are beginning to teeth as well as have your first little cold so that is not helping either!!
Missing Daddy

Your cousin Emmett was born February 4, 2013 almost exactly 4 months apart from one another.  So excited to get to watch you two grow, play, and learn together.

Catch Up

I am up, showered, ready for church, and drinking HOT coffee for the second day in a row with two sleeping boys in bed still SHOCKINGGGGGG idk whats in the air but im liking it A LOT getting even the 15 min to myself to just sit and drink my coffee and be READY when the boys wake up gives me such a peace of mind and good attitude to start off the day
INSTEAD of feeling far less then decent, running around with my head cut off, and a husband in his pj's still 5 minutes before walking out the door when I could use the help or should i say the "servant" as I would be bossing him around to do stuff for us but instead I know he has to get himself ready
ANYWHOOOO
its going to be a great day i would have to say

did i mention HOT COFFEE

So it has been a little while since I have posted
I really only ever get the chance to do the monthly updates because I have so much other stuff that I should be doing but the monthly growing update is something I do not want to miss out on for later in life to look back on
and to be honest if i do not do it right then and there I start to forget and everything blends together

Okay so Catch Up!
--URIJAH IS IN HIS CRIB --- we are on night 6 of being successful with about 5 previous half nights
this was a big step and I have to say it was probably much harder on Mommy/Daddy then it was for Lil Man who is being a little champ about it! YES I cried the first night! I hated not being able to hear his sleepy noises nor watch him sleep as I drifted off to sleep.  Daddy checked on him numerous times and wasnt sleeping well the first nights; He hated the monitor and all the noises he heard and would have to go check on Urijah so we have turned the monitor off for his sanity
It took some getting use to but after a week I have to say we are all doing good

--In 15 days we are headed back to Iowa ---However this time just Urijah and I:( Rocky has to go to Louisiana for some training for the month.  Instead of staying here by ourselves we are going back home to be surrounded with family! 1. It will make the time go faster 2. I honestly can say I would have got depressed being here without Rocky and anyone else 3. We will HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed) be in Iowa when the arrival of our new niece/nephew/cousin makes their appearance into the world.  Which I am grateful that I will be around to help my sister with the last part of her pregnancy and hopefully the first weeks of motherhood with THREE little peoples running around in her daily life.

--another big update for Urijah (which im sure i will repeat some of this in his 4 month blog post) He is attempting to roll over! He grabs toys and actually plays now! and he can see farther or at least follow us farther away with interest still he will lay in the living room and stair into the kitchen at us! His giggles are getting more frequent and man is he ticklish but he just grunts and holds his breath as he squirms more then laughs hahah

--We as a couple are becoming more normal ---Sounds weird I know but its most defiantly something they dont inform you of nor do you think about when you are prego! they tell you to make time for each other and all that jazz.  But you really do go through an adjustment period (ours being about 2 1/2 months) of not only becoming parents and all the new changes as well as joys that that brings.  But figuring out each other again, making time for each other, showing love for one another.  I would have to say this was probably harder for me and most females as we have a baby attached to us all the time and so "freedom" time of no one touching us well we dont really want to go cuddle up with the hubs we want to sprawl out and relax and not be touched or talked too!!! hahaha  When the baby is asleep or goes down for the night you want to zonk out too!! not stay up another hour to have "us" time without baby.
Trust me after a couple months and you (as well as your body) has adjusted these things will be important!  Showing love and affection and rekindling where it all started! Life before kids should always remain in a relationship.  And since we are not in a location that we can drop the baby off with someone we trust and have a date night we have to work a little extra harder at it! so all in all this is for the hubs GIVE US TIME we will come back to you and becoming more "normal" again.  And ladies Dont give up on your man just because your little peeps demand and need so much from you.
This is one of my new years resolutions---to be a better wife and the best mom I can be all wrapped up in one.
But I dont feel bad for those first couple months and its def something that I will pass on to others as I was unaware to expect this and I more then think its normal (or at least I will continue to tell myself that)

Well I hear baby coos so I am headed to get a 2nd cup of coffee that will be cold before I finish
Happy Sunday to all
God Bless

3 months

It is still hard to grasp how fast you are growing! You go to bed some nights and just wake up bigger.  You are outgrowing clothes left and right.  You are wearing a lot of 3-6 months stuff now.  Still in size 2 diapers ---be interesting to see what you weigh next month at the doctor.
You had a lot of first this month
1.      Airplane ride–which you did awesome at!
2.      Visit to Iowa--And you met so many family members that you had not yet got to see.  They all loved on you of course.  Jada acted like you where her baby doll and Tucker/McCoy couldn’t get enough of you!  Tucker was all about giving you a bath and feeding you and McCoy was constantly showing you toys.
3.      1st snow ---they got a HUGE blizzard and we didn’t know if our flight was going to make it on time but it did and Grandpa Chamby picked us up with a very long drive home
4.      Celebrated your first Christmas! Daddy and I are excited for you to get a little bigger so we can start a lot of family traditions together J we tried to make an ornament you’re your hand print but it really didn’t work out you are just to little and wiggly.  You got a book “God Gave Us Christmas” and you will get a new book every year.  Mommy also gave you a basketball hoop Daddy didn’t think this to be to funny! He still thinks you are going to be a wrestler
5.      1st football game in El Paso at the Sun Bowl when we returned from Iowa.  USC vs GT

Your hands are becoming so active and you can actually hold on to things and grab toys if they are in your reach too.  You are constantly chewing on your hands and finding your fingers.  Sometimes you pop a thumb in there but Daddy always pulls it out.  Usually though you just chew/eat on your whole fist aaannnddd gag yourself –your hand is bigger than your mouth silly but you have not figured that out yet.  When you play under your play mat you have just started hitting the toys.
You cough and when I say “bad cough” or when Daddy calls you “faker” you continue to do it … its almost like you know how to do it.
While in Iowa you really started to like your pacifier
You still LOVE your bathtime and have started to kick and splash around
Bouncey seat is still your favorite place to nap and your strong legs can seriously kick you right out of there so we have to start strapping you in
You have started to try out new items with your new big boy status–highchair, bumbo, excersaucer etc.
1st of the year we have started getting you into your crib ….. Daddy is surprisingly having a harder time with it then Mommy.  Yes Mom did cry the first night but Dad couldn’t sleep and kept checking on you after hearing so many noises over the monitor until he finally “accidently” woke you up.  Needless to say you where in our room by 11.  Now we don’t use the monitor and the last two nights you have stayed in there a little longer.  Making Baby Steps!!!!!
Since Iowa we have really been off schedule or should I say not on a schedule!!  You fight your sleep now and you have become quite attached to Mommy.  You eat anywhere from 2.5 hrs-4 hours during the day 4.5 oz…. and at night 3-5 hours.  I’m ready to be back on schedule, and just as I get you in one we will be going home again.  January 28 we will be flying home to iowa for the month because Daddy has to go to Louisiana for some training.  Hopefully we will be home when your new cousin is born! But it will be a long month without Daddy around L
Your hair is still wild
You yell now .. not just talk but really yell.  And we can get you to giggle on occasion now! It’s the cutest thing ever and we even got your first one on tape.
You got so many new toys for Christmas we are excited to play and learn with them.  You will probably be rolling over by next month.  You are holding your head up so much better not such a wobble head.
You continue to amaze us baby boo! We are beyond blessed to be your parents and get the opportunity to watch you grow and change with such an overwhelming feeling of love.

2 months

You had your two month checkup today.  You are a growing boy weighing in at 12lbs and 23” long (in the 60% range for both height and weight and your head is in the 40%).  You are three for three on peeing on the nurse at each of your doctor visits so far.  As soon as that diaper comes off you spray away, we warned this one at least and she still got it. You had three shots and I handled them much better than your circumcision.  It was a quick scream and cry from you and as soon as I picked you up you where good to go.  Daddy left the room before they gave them to you (he really hates shots) he “had” to go get your Tylenol from the pharmacy.  You are in a size 2 diapers and 3 month clothes. I went through your closet and it’s amazing how many clothes you have outgrown already. You love your baths you are so beyond content in there.  You are going longer between feedings finally which is really nice, usually three hours and at night u r asleep by 9 wake at 2 and then if u wake to eat at 5ish then u go back to sleep till 7ish but occasionally u sleep till 6 and are up for the day then.  You sleep with your hands up above your head it is the cutest thing! Mommy has had Mastitis twice this month which has resulted in you getting more bottles.  You have decided you like them better too!  You are such a happy camper in the mornings when you wake up, not always do you want a bottle for a few hours.  You like to just lay and talk, chat, smile at anyone who will listen.  It’s my favorite part of the day now.  Your big huge smile is contagious and your chatty self just makes me fill with happiness.  Your big blue eyes are so beautiful I could stare into them forever while holding your little hand.  You like to hold hands when you are eating. And boy have you found your hands!! You chew on them all the time. You’re holding your head up better and liking tummy time a little bit more.  You still have those goopy eyes due to clogged tear ducts.  We have to strap you in your bouncer now your legs are so strong!.  We started to test out a new carrier on our walks and you love it which I am so happy about because will make going through the airport easier.  We decided to fly home for Christmas so you will get another first under your belt! Everyone is so excited to see you and I am very glad that we will not be driving the 20 hours that’s for sure.  Everyone is so excited to meet you and we are excited to show you off.  You where already so alert but are getting more and more aware, recognize things, and follow objects. When you wake up you are always so happy and have the biggest stretches (along with a few toots here and there too) we plan to get this on tape soon because it is seriously one of the cutest things ever.  Grandpa Willie came down and visited again this month.  Wyatt and Kristina came down to help us celebrate your second holiday, Thanksgiving, with a big feast and football.  Mommy left you for the first time with Daddy while she did some Black Friday shopping.  Your hair is starting to lie down as it grows and gets longer.  I know I am going to miss those peacock feathers.  You are still sleeping in your rock n play in Mommy and Daddy’s room but Daddy thinks now that we don’t have company coming down we need to move you to your big boy bed.
I don’t think we could possibly love you anymore then we already do.  You are amazing baby boy and its overwhelming how such a little person can change our world more than ever imaginable.  Every day I am purely amazed by the things you do and filled with more joy.
Look forward to 1. Showing you off to everyone and you getting to meet the rest of your family 2.  Your giggle 3. Rolling over
